The Madrid clubs are in luck. The oldest, the Peña Mariano, has completed its 100 years of existence. It started in September 1920 in the El Nido Bar, in Mesón de Paredes street (heart of the capital). A group of football fans, supporters of the MadridThey decided to create a group to follow him and encourage him in view of the fact that the white feeling united them. And that place would be their headquarters. Players from Madrid itself, the Marquis de Bolarque, various journalists and supporters, among them Mariano, who gave the club its name, met in that bar.
Mariano was a great fan of bullfighting but Real Madrid began to pull him almost equally. The club started with 100 members, the statutes have never allowed to exceed that number. To be a member of it, it is mandatory to be a Real Madrid member. The headquarters location changed its name in the 1940s. It was renamed Mariano House in honor of the founder. In the 1960s it would move to its current location, in the Plaza de Tirso de Molina. Santiago Bernabéu became very friendly with Mariano and visited the club several times, as well as Alfredo Di Stéfano himself.
For this reason and taking advantage of the Centennial of the Peña Mariano, the Federation of Peñas of the Community of Madrid has made a commemorative logo which will be featured in all its publications to commemorate the 100 years of life of the Madrid associative movement. There will be several activities that serve to honor this emblematic rock, symbol of the 2,500 that the club has registered all over the world. Two hashtags have been promoted to commemorate this anniversary: #madrid Y #unsig.
