A few weeks after Alejandro Juan and Marta Soriano were proclaimed champions of the Mutua Madrid Open Sub-16 at the Caja MágicaAfterwards, living an unforgettable moment when sharing the absolute Mutua Madrid Open trophy ceremony with Alexander Zverev and Aryna Sabalenka, the organization of the circuit announced this Monday the ninth edition of the tournament.
In this new season, the circuit will be made up of 14 territorial tests that will feature the simultaneous celebration of the male and female teams. As usual, the champions of each event will achieve their qualification for the ffinal ase, which will take place from May 4 to 8, 2022, coinciding with the last days of the Mutua Madrid Open.
The participants of this final phase will fight for victory in the Caja Mágica stadiums and the champions will have the privilege of receiving the title at the Manolo Santana Stadium. along with the winners of the ATP Masters 1000 and WTA Premier Mandatory tournaments at the Mutua Madrid Open.
Alberto Berasategui, director of the Mutua Madrid Open Sub-16, has analyzed the new season of the circuit of the young promises of Spanish tennis: “Having a calendar made up of 14 events is great news for us, but also for all the participants who will have more opportunities to compete and qualify for the final phase at the Caja Mágica. In addition, it means that little by little we are beginning to regain normalcy after having lived through a very difficult time ”.
Due to the current situation caused by the covid-19 pandemic, The Mutua Madrid Open Sub-16 will be held following the relevant security measures to guarantee the safety of all those involved in each event, permanently analyzing the situation in each of the cities in which the circuit is scheduled to take place.
