The king turns 57 this Thursday, January 30. Felipe VI faces the last line of his tenth anniversary of proclamation on the throne. A year that has left us the photographs of Cádiz, where we sawThe monarch excited as a father recording a video to his daughter in Elcano. And also, worried, conciliatory and with austee voice, when he put calm in Paiporta. In these last twelve months, his public image is on the rise. His voice reaches generations that he did not arrive before. He has made speaker the expected Instagram account that the house inaugurated just one day after the tenth anniversary as head of state, last June 19. Don Felipe with Doña Letizia form a cohesive work team. Fissured. They project an image of modernity, transparency and exemplarity of the institution in the 21st century. The kings have professionalized the monarchy.
How will Don Felipe celebrate this day? Working. His daughters are out. Leonor, aboard Elcano towards Brazil; and Sofia, in Wales; and Doña Letizia, also working. These 57 candles arrive at Don Felipe with the Medal of Honor of the Carlos III University, the maximum recognition granted by the Madrid University to people for their contribution to progress and social welfare. An intervention that the Head of the State began with a few words towards the university students who were among the public: “It gives me a little envy I cannot be sitting there with you.” And he slid: “I encourage you to remain students all my life, not to lose that curiosity and that desire to learn.” It was this January 28.
It has been the second high distinction for the monarch in just two months. In December, he was recognized as Doctor Honoris Causa in Social and Statistics Sciences by the University of Naples Federico II. He was the first doctorate of this category granted by this institution to a head of state.
Work day in Zarzuela
Today, three hearings are scheduled in the Palacio de la Zarzuela: with the members of the last two promotions of the body of lawyers of the State Council, with a representation of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain and the participants in the day Felipe VI: a decade of reign; and with the organizing committee of the 1,200º anniversary of the foundation of the city of Murcia. Letizia does not leave Zarzuela either. The Queen will attend this morning a working meeting of the Spanish Association against Cancer, of which she is an honorary president. This year he has been scripted for Don Felipe with three words that have exercised pillars in the architecture of his reign: service, commitment and duty. Three axes on which he has cemented his work and his figure and who served as a guide in his performance in Paiporta. It was the most difficult scenario they had to deal with Don Felipe and Mrs. Letizia in these ten years at the head of the house. It is not Paiporta the only episode that has contributed to boost the new image of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia. We return to that June 19 of last year and remember the head of the State excited when his daughters, to his mother’s touch, who sounded a glass to request silence, approached the microphone to launch that of “Mom, dad we also have Something to say. ” Very moved the king. The same, on January 11, Cádiz against Elcano, with his daughter Leonor on board. The king had already given us clues of that emotion and that nostalgia. He slightly slid in Asturias, two months before. He remembered with love and with great enthusiasm his experience on the school ship 38 years ago. Leonor is the relief, symbolizes the future of the crown and permanence.
