The new conquest of the Premier League: it will market its own NFTs for 520 million euros

The Premier League proves once again why it is the best football league in the world. The English competition has given a new twist to its business model with an agreement to market its NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) for a value that would reach 520 million euros over the next four years.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Premier League has put out the official license for its NFTs and the finalist companies have been the platforms Sorare, Candy Digital, Dapper Labs and ConsenSys. The final winner will be known at the end of this month of February. In the worst case, the minimum deal would net the league a total of €264m.

In this way, the English competition, which has the best television contract in the world of football, will try to compete with transatlantic players such as the NFL (National Football League) or the NBA (National Basketball Association), which recently closed agreements with Dapper Labs.

In our country, LaLiga reached an agreement with Sorare in September of last year. An agreement that supposes the creation of an additional route of income through a new category of licenses. The French company is also allied with the Bundesliga until the 2022-2023 season.

Specifically, it is an agreement by which digital trading cards will be sold and auctioned on the Internet for large amounts of money. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo’s, with the Juventus shirt, was sold in 2021 for 242,500 euros.
