The NBA All-Star Game returns to its East vs. West format

MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The NBA All-Star Game will return for its 73rd edition in 2024 to its classic format of the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference after the revolutionary changes that this event underwent in 2018, the league announced this Wednesday in a statement.

“To celebrate the deep roots of basketball in the State of Indiana, the 73rd NBA All-Star Game will feature the return of both the classic matchup between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference and the traditional scoring system with four 12-minute quarters” , noted the NBA.

This edition of the All-Star Game will be played on February 18 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home of the Indiana Pacers. The voting process to determine the players who will play in this NBA game will remain the same, with 12 players selected from each conference.

Another significant change is that the last quarter will not be without time and until the target score of points is completed like previous editions. Teams will still compete to win each quarter for a charity of their choice but the match will have a classic format.

Team captains will continue to be named to lead their respective teams and will receive the most votes from fans in their respective conference during voting. Therefore, there will be no Draft of choice as in previous editions, where the captains selected their teammates.
