The National Team pays tribute to its legends in Barcelona

Barcelona has been the third stop of the Meetings of Legends held by the RFEF. They remember players who have worn or currently wear the La Roja shirt and who are linked to the area. Luis Rubialespresident of the RFEF, and Fernando Ginerpresident of the Spanish Association of International Soccer Players (AEdFI) have delivered their Legend Number to Jordi Alba, Ferran Torres, Pedri and Eric García hours before playing with the National Team against Albania.

In addition to the aforementioned footballers, there were others who also received their Legend Dorsal as Sadurníwho debuted with the National Team in 1963, Bartra, Capdevila, Quique Costas, Rexach, Pichi Alonso, Víctor Muñoz, Albert Celades, Albert Luque, Sergio García or Ignacio Camacho, among others. Along with them, the family of Justo Tejada and Martí Vergés were present at the tribute.

The president of the RFEF has valued the return of the Absolute to Barcelona 18 years later: “I can’t understand why I haven’t been here for so long. In everything that depends on us, it will not happen again. Here there are mythical people with whom those of us who wanted to be footballers grew up.”

Rubiales has had words of thanks for Fernando Giner and its Board of Directors for the change that has taken place in the association: “It allows us to be closer to the internationals. It is a very emotional event, I hope you enjoy it a lot and that the Board continues to give you back everything you have done for us”.

While Giner He added: “Thank you for everything you have represented during the history of the National Team, for what you have transmitted, I am proud of all of you, I have had some of you on trading cards, others have been professional colleagues or rivals on the pitch, I am proud to represent you as president of AEdFI doing a job that is very important for all of you. The Legends never retire, they just stop competing.”.
