The men’s wheelchair basketball team beat France (72-57) and finished seventh in Paris 2024

PARIS, Sep. 6 (by EUROPA PRESS special correspondent Ramón Chamorro) –

The Spanish men’s wheelchair basketball team finished seventh on Friday at the Paris Paralympic Games after clearly winning their final match 72-57 against the host France.

The national team thus ended its participation in the event with a smile after its last two defeats against Germany, in the quarterfinals, and against Australia, in the first match to try to finish in fifth place.

The match was tight during the first half and everything was still to be decided at half-time (33-28), but Abraham Carrión’s men pushed hard in the third quarter to open the gap and take the victory that could mean the last international match for a good part of a generation that has brought much joy to national wheelchair basketball. Ignacio Ortega, with 16 points, was the best scorer for the current European runners-up.
