The Márquez escort Bagnaia on pole position in MotoGP

MADRID, 10 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian rider Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) signed pole position this Saturday for the MotoGP races of the Italian Grand Prix, the sixth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, while the brothers Marc (Repsol Honda) and Álex Márquez (Ducati) will also start in front row after finishing second and third, respectively.

‘Pecco’, reigning champion and leader of the premier class, claimed a time of 1:44.855 -track record- to guarantee himself to start first both in the sprint race this Saturday and in the long race on Sunday. With this, he signed his third pole of the season and number 21 in the World Championship.

All in a qualifying session in which he bitterly complained that Marc Márquez took advantage of his slipstream. The man from Cervera stuck to his wheel, after trying it with Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) -second in the championship, one point behind his compatriot-, to finish Q2 less than a tenth behind the transalpine.

The eighth champion finished ahead of his brother Álex, very fast this weekend; The youngest of the Márquez went through Q1 without problems and finished in the final session one tenth behind ‘Pecco’.

In addition, Jorge Martín (Ducati) will start fifth ahead of Bezzecchi and Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), seventh despite the injury suffered from a fall on his bicycle when he was looking at his mobile. Meanwhile, Álex Rins (Honda) will start the event from ninth position.

Among those who failed to advance to Q2, Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) will start thirteenth, Raúl Fernández (Aprilia) will do so in twentieth and Augusto Fernández (KTM), twenty-first.
