2.4 million will be allocated to financing aid to non-profit sports entities for sports activities in 2022-23
MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Board of the Madrid City Council has approved this Thursday two packages of subsidies aimed at supporting sport in the capital for 3.2 million euros, the consistory reported in a statement.
The first of them, of 2,450,000 euros, is used to finance aid to non-profit sports entities to carry out sports and competition activities during the 2022-23 season.
Likewise, 750,000 euros are allocated to non-profit entities to carry out sports promotion activities and large events during 2023. Both subsidies are established under a competitive bidding regime, as explained by the municipal spokesperson, Inmaculada Sanz.
The first 2.45 million grants are part of the measures aimed at boosting the work of the associative fabric in the sports field, supporting the development of its activity each season.
To this end, a maximum of one million euros will be allocated to aid 50 clubs and 120 non-professional national league teams.
The rest of this line of subsidies, until completing the 2.45 million, seeks to benefit 175 entities and 30,000 athletes.
It is established that 40 percent will go to organizations with schools and women’s teams and 30 percent to those who practice minority sports.
Likewise, ten entities with specific programs for people with disabilities will receive these aids. Within the total of these aids, 35 percent of the beneficiaries will correspond to entities participating in municipal competitions.
This call covers the activities carried out from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023.
The Sports delegate of the Madrid City Council, Sofía Miranda, has highlighted the effort of the consistory “in a determined commitment to support and defend Madrid’s grassroots sport”. “This government team is committed to having a quality sports public service, and for this we have thousands of sports clubs and thousands of children who, thanks to these subsidies, make Madrid the sporting benchmark in all of Spain,” she added.
SPORTS PROMOTION AND LARGE EVENTS
Financing non-profit entities to carry out sports promotion acts and major sporting events in the city of Madrid in 2023 is the objective of the second of the lines approved this Thursday by the Governing Board for a value of 750,000 euros.
For the purposes of this call, sports events of an inter-autonomous nature, with the participation of between two and five autonomous communities, will be considered major events; those of a national nature, with a minimum participation of six autonomous communities, and international ones, with a minimum participation of three countries.
The two approved calls are part of the Strategic Subsidy Plan for the Area of Culture, Tourism and Sports for 2022-24.
