The lions will tour North America in the July window

The Spanish Rugby XV team will face the United States and another rival yet to be confirmed in the next June window on its tour of North America, in a level test after closing its winter commitments meeting the objectives, according to the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation on Tuesday.

Those of Pablo Bouza have not only achieved the direct classification to the World Cup, but also have improved their results of the last campaign in the European Championship hanging continental silver.

The team has left a great image with a partial of three victories, 53-24 against Netherlands, 13-43 against Switzerland and 31-42 against Portugal in the semifinals, for only two losses, and both against Georgia, 17 times continental champion, for 32-62 and 46-28 in the grand final.

The next challenge for the lions will be the July window, which is year will take them on a tour of North America. In the first of the confirmed duels, they will face the United States, on July 12 at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, in North Carolina.

The ‘Eagles’ are in the 15th position of the world ranking, just above the Spanish team (16th), and have participated in all editions of the World Cup, with the exception of South Africa 1995 and France 2023 (while the other match during the tour “will be announced soon”.

The American team will play its World Cup square at the Pacific Nations Cup 2025, which will be played between August and September, and will serve as a qualifier for the teams of North America and Oceania. The three best of this tournament, in addition to the already classified Fiyi and Japan, will get their direct ticket to Australia 2027.

From the Federation they see the United States as “a very level rival for the Spanish team”, since, of the five played meetings, the lions have never managed to take a victory against the American power, despite the fact that in the last duel between both selections those of Pablo Bouza stayed only three points of beating.
