The Kings, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía make a surprise visit to Catarroja, one of the Valencian towns affected by DANA

Coinciding with Lottery day and two days before Christmas Eve, the kings and their two daughters have gone by surprise to Catarroja, one of the towns in the Valencian community affected by DANA on October 29.

The monarch, the consort and his two daughters have toured the municipality’s market like just another tourist. The area was full of people buying the last details for the holidays and celebrating that the third prize of the Extraordinary Christmas Lottery Draw had won in the town.

Upon their arrival, the Kings, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía were greeted with cries of “Long live the King!“. Likewise, the residents of the area have expressed to Their Majesties the indignation they feel towards the politicians, as they claim to feel “abandoned” by the authorities. Furthermore, taking advantage of their visit, which lasted about half an hour, Felipe, Letizia, Leonor and Sofía had a drink at one of the market stalls.

With this visit, it is the third time that the Kings have visited the Valencian Community since the terrible floods of last October 29. The last time they traveled to the affected areas was on November 19 when they visited the towns of Chica and Utiel. Also, on December 9, the monarch and the consort attended the funeral for the victims of the DANA tragedy.
