The ITF will not organize any tournament in Belarus due to its support for Russia

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) will not organize any tournament in Belarus this year “due to Russian aggression against Ukraine” and the Belarusian government’s support for it, it announced in a statement sent to the American television network CNN.

“We are constantly monitoring the tournaments and are in discussions with the ITF tennis family and security experts,” the ITF noted. “We stand with the people of Ukraine. At this time, our priority remains the safety of everyone who participates in our tournaments,” she added.

Last Friday, the world tennis governing body decided to cancel all tournaments in Russia indefinitely and postponed the World Tennis Tour M15 event that was due to be played in Ukraine in April due to “increased security concerns”.
