“The important thing is that they offered me the job”

Rodolfo Sancho has returned to work after the murder of his son Edwin Arrieta in Thailand, whose sentence will be announced on August 29. The actor of The Ministry of Time Meanwhile, he presents his new film, A walk through the Borneby Nick Igea, which opens this Friday, July 26. The film is about a film director who is turned away by the industry and the actor has reflected on his own situation.

Regarding his professional career, he says that he “sincerely” does not know how what happened with his son will affect him or not. And he admits: “I don’t think it should have any effect. I had to say no to a series all this time, but it was due to a time problem. The important thing is that they offered me the job. But it’s hard to know.”.

At the same time, she regrets that the focus is now on her personal life: “I don’t know, I’m still settling everything. It’s a process… I used to wonder whether actors should or should not talk about politics and, for the same reason that I don’t understand why my opinions on politics should be relevant, I don’t understand why my personal life interests anyone. For the same reason that I don’t understand why my opinions on something I don’t know should matter, I don’t understand why everyone feels the need to butt into my personal life because I’m a well-known actor.“.

The actor, who participated in the documentary about his son’s case on HBO to pay for his defense and everything necessary in Thailand, laments at the same time: “I really can’t connect one thing with the other. Especially for someone like me who has not been very active in premieres and has never sold an exclusive. Everyone is free and I’m not going to mess with anyone. But there are actors who make a business out of their personal lives. That’s not my case.“, he admits, after participating in said documentary, in which he spoke about his personal life for money.

And adds: “It’s a very strange feeling. Suddenly, you have a problem, something is wrong with you, and everyone feels entitled to talk about you. It’s like in football, where everyone thinks they know and thinks they’re a coach. I wonder: if you decide to be an actor at 17, where is it written that from that moment on everyone can talk about your life? And what’s this about anyone being able to take a photo of you with their mobile phone just because you’re in a public place? Does that make sense? There are many countries where it’s not like that at all.”

The father of the confessed murderer of Edwin Arrieta attacks “that very determined press that distorts and misrepresents everything, that invents without shame”: “90% of the people who approach me are kind and tell me that they love it” Isabelwho has seen it I don’t know how many times. People generally tell me: ‘Keep your spirits up’ or ‘I’m so sorry for what you’re going through’. And the third phrase they repeat the most is: ‘What a shame for the press!’. In my life I have experienced brutal moments of fame. Since I started with AfterclassThere were times when I couldn’t set foot outside. The harassment, so to speak, was much more than I can experience now. But it was different. The difference is that very determined press that distorts and misrepresents everything, that shamelessly invents.”

In this last year, the protagonist of Mrs premiered the series of Zorro on TVE, in which he played the role of the villain. The series was recorded before the murder committed by his son in August of last year. The defense of Sancho Gracia’s grandson, during the trial held between April and May, worked to prove that the murder was not premeditated in order to avoid the death penalty or life imprisonment. The goal of Daniel’s defense is for him to be able to return to Spain in a few years to finish his future sentence away from Thailand. We will know the sentence, as we have mentioned, on August 29.

These months of ordeal have also been marked by personal battles between the parents of the accused, Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo. The latter even went so far as to denounce her ex for continued harassment and insults. A couple of weeks ago it was revealed that the complaint was dismissed. The judge of Alcobendas did not pursue the accusations of the former actress towards the actor as she did not see any criminal acts.
