MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s handball team defeated Serbia (24-18) this Sunday at the closing of the Spain 2023 International Tournament, with which the ‘Guerreras’ finished their preparation for the World Championship in Denmark, Norway and Sweden 2023 which starts next week.

Ambros Martín’s team left good feelings in the last test ahead of the imminent World Cup, after the defeat against Japan, winner of the tournament, and the victory over Argentina at the Santander Sports Palace.

Spain already dominated the first half with a resounding 14-7 at halftime, with a very solid defense and Merche Castellanos immeasurable between the sticks. Sole López hammered the Serbian defense and, in the second half, the ‘Guerreras’ maintained their dominance.

With Paula Arcos, once again, very successful in attack – she was named MVP of the match -, Carmen Campos leading the charge and Lysa Tchaptchet and Kaba Gassama leading the team from defense, Spain was a wall for Serbia. Furthermore, Paulina Pérez Buforn took center stage in the final minutes.
