The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Franco, reiterated this Thursday in the Senate the “political will” of the Spanish Government for the creation of the professional women’s soccer league and affirmed that “there can be no hint of doubt “by neither party.
In his appearance at the Culture and Sports Commission of the Upper House, José Manuel Franco recalled that the Government will allocate in 2021 the entire increase in the ordinary budget, 5 million euros, to the launch of this professional women’s league of soccer.
“The clubs must present a single proposal of Statutes for its validation. For our part, all the facilities have been deployed. There can be no hint of doubt of the political will of this Government regarding the creation of the Women’s League of football, “he stressed.
In this sense, the president of the CSD stressed that the Executive’s commitment to equality is “unquestionable”, after the declaration on June 15 in the Board of Directors of the Council as a professional the highest female soccer category. “We want soccer to act as a locomotive for women’s sports as a whole, and help to make visible the quality of our athletes and dignify their work,” he said.
The Secretary of State for Sports indicated that he continues to bet on “consensus” as the only way to start this project, and invited the clubs to present a single proposal of Statutes for its validation.
“For our part, all the facilities and support for this project have been deployed, which beyond a sports project, is a country commitment, a declaration of intent to place women’s sport where it deserves,” he said.
For him, the momentum of the first professional women’s soccer league should be “a common goal”. “We must dignify the sport practiced by women. When a woman advances, all women advance with her. When a group of women advances, all the generations of young men and girls who come behind also advance. the political will of this Government regarding the creation of the Women’s Soccer League. It is a commitment to justice with them and with society. It is a challenge for all and all, and the Higher Sports Council will lead it, “he said.
