After 17 years at Mediaset and a lifetime dedicated to information, the journalist is retiring at the age of 68, leaving behind quite a legacy. The communicator has revealed what plans he has after leaving behind the adrenaline of the small screen and the busy sound of the newsroom.

Far from leading a quiet life, Piqueras has explained in Cadena Ser that he intends to travel the world. He also wants to sail the seas, since one of his great passions is navigation. As he himself has stated, this hobby allows him to enjoy his friends and connect with himself. Likewise, the presenter will say that he yes to all the plans that his wife, Esther Barrigaand his son, Currothey propose.

In his new life away from the editorial office (not from the information), the historic journalist has confessed that he will impart another of his great passions: sharing his experience with the new generations of journalism. Something that he has already done on several occasions with university or master's students.

Before returning to the classroom, this time to transmit his immense experience, Pedro Piqueras will say goodbye this Thursday at 9 p.m. to the audience and his classmates in front of the small screen. “I'll try to make it quick because I don't want to fill with tears, I don't want to cry. Maybe my voice will break, but I plan to say thank you. Yes, not only to the spectators, but also to the company, to my colleagues and even to the people who have taught me so much for so long. We are all the product of many people. I am leaving better than when I arrived,” he said.

Carlos Franganillo, the successor

Carlos Franganillo, after a long career at TVE, will be the journalist who replaces him at Informativos Telecinco starting in January. A relief that has made Piqueras very happy, as he himself pointed out. “I had a certain emotion when presenting him in the editorial office because I feel that I have fulfilled my colleagues, who have applauded wildly. Franganillo is a fantastic guy that I and many other people liked. I have connected a lot with him because we have traveled two to the La Palma volcano, we have been in the investiture doing programs abroad, with the elections, in Morocco, etc. On some occasions, I told him that I was thinking about leaving and that I would like him to be my substitute,” he admitted.
