MADRID, 8 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The French Stéphanie Frappart will be in charge of refereeing the quarterfinal match of the Women’s World Cup between Spain and the Netherlands early Thursday to Friday (3:00 a.m. Spanish peninsular time) at the Sky Stadium in Wellington (New Zealand).
Frappart, 39, will be assisted on the wings by her compatriots Manuela Nicolosi and Elodie Coppola, while the Italian Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi will act as fourth referee.
The French braid was the first woman to lead a match in a final phase of a men’s World Cup as the main referee, when she delivered justice in the match between Costa Rica and Germany on the third and final day of Group E.
In addition, Frappart has achieved many milestones for women in men’s football, being the first to direct a French Ligue 1 match (2019), a European Super Cup final (2019), an official match of national teams ( 2020), a match of the ‘Champions’ (2020) or a final of the French Cup (2022).
