The fleets of Canada, the United States, Finland and Germany increase their participation in the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds

MADRID, 24 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Xacobeo 6mR Worlds, the 6 Meter Sailing Class World Championship to be held in Sanxenxo (Pontevedra) from June 10 to 18, has received eleven new entries from some of the most important fleets in the class, such as Canada , United States, Finland and Germany, after the presentation of the test at FITUR.

These registrations, added to the twenty-eight units that have already been in Sanxenxo since last summer, will mean that the 2022 season, which will begin on March 18 with the first round of the Spanish Cup, will be presented with a lot of competitiveness in the face of Xacobeo 6mR Worlds in the month of June.

The president of the 6mR class in Spain, Mauricio Sánchez-Bella, indicated that the number of entries is “a great boost” to the European and World Cup project that has been brewing for years from Galicia. “Soon there will be other great figures of world sailing who will also join the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds”, he ventured.

For his part, Pedro Campos, president of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, organizer of the event, was enthusiastic and believes that the presentation of the event at FITUR has helped to promote it. “Undoubtedly, the institutional support that the Xunta has given us to make the presentation in Madrid is a great boost for the great shipowners and the great figures of world sailing to come to Galicia from this spring,” he said.

“That the organizations coordinate and complement each other from the public and private spheres means that the events grow in quality and in return capacity, as in this case, for Galicia and Sanxenxo”, he continued.

The Xacobeo 6mR Worlds will be held in Sanxenxo from the 10th to the 18th of June, but before that, from the month of March, the series of the Spanish Cup will begin with appointments of three days each month until the month of November as the final series of the 2022 season.
