The final of the WTA Finals will be played on Monday due to rain

MADRID, 5 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The semifinal of the WTA Finals between the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, world number one, and the Polish Iga Swiatek, number two, was suspended this Saturday due to rain, so the final of the competition that is being held in Cancun (Mexico) will be played on Monday, the WTA has confirmed.

The suspension came after three games, with Sabalenka trailing 2-1 and serving at 30-30, and the match will resume this Sunday. Bad weather also affected the doubles schedule, canceling the semifinals.

The number five in the WTA ranking, the American Jessica Pegula, is already waiting in the final after beating her compatriot Coco Gauff, world number three, 6-1 and 6-2.
