The Spanish Football Federation, in agreement with the participating clubs, lHe spent several months studying the possibility that the public could enter the two Copa del Rey finals that are played next April. Leaders of the Royal Spanish Football Federation have met at the sports ministry and have written to the health minister who declined to meet delegating to the CSD and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, as well as councilors from the Junta de Andalucía, to explore all possible protocols so that a percentage of team fans who play both finals, the one corresponding to the 19-20 campaign and the current season, can cheer on their teams.
Once this possibility was contemplated by the Junta de Andalucía, Last week the RFEF, through Antonio Gómez Reino, Director of Institutional Relations, transmitted this situation to the CSD. After this contact, several more conversations have taken place and the RFEF has made a request to the CSD to attend a meeting with the clubs.
In the RFEF they are very surprised by the fact that information has appeared in which the Higher Sports Council ensures that it is not aware that steps are being taken to make it public for the finals. The RFEF has informed the CSD of their movements and they have been summoned to meet to study that both finals are played with a limited percentage (which could be around 20%) of the capacity. For her part, Carolina Darias, Minister of Health, has said that she will not allow public after the meeting of the Interterritorial Council with representatives of the autonomous communities.
It is also surprising that in other Competitions (including previous rounds of the Copa del Rey) there has been a high percentage of the public much higher than the one being talked about, even several thousand spectators in many matches in which, as in the Cup Final, the central government does not have the powers. In that case with 7,000 or 8,000 spectators, with a percentage that in some cases has exceeded 50% of the capacity, the Minister of Health did not pronounce.
The Federation will continue to explore all the possibilities so that a percentage of fans can cheer on Atlhetic de Bilbao and Real Sociedad on April 3 at La Cartuja in Seville, in the 19-20 cup final, and on April 17 in the final of the current season Athletic-Barça, which is also played in Seville, as long as the competent authorities authorize it and scrupulously respecting the established conditions.
