The Higher Sports Council (CSD) has decided this Friday that the elections in the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) can be held before the start of the European Championship, as requested by Luis Rubiales, president of the Federation and candidate for the reelection

Government sources confirmed to EL MUNDO the progress of the elections, although they could not specify an exact date. It should be remembered that the Federation had previously requested the mediation of the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD), whose decision has now been ratified by the CSD.

Rubiales justified the electoral advance with the idea that the national team would reach the European Championship with a renewed leadership. In this way he also shortened the preparation deadlines for Iker Casillas, former captain of the national team, who had confirmed his idea of running for the elections.
