The complicity of Mary Donaldson and Queen Margaret on Frederick X’s first birthday as King of Denmark

Frederick X is celebrating. A couple of weeks after his wedding anniversary with Mary Donaldson, Frederick of Denmark turned 56 this Saturday. To celebrate, the king has shown off a beautiful family photo (as if the controversial photographs of him with Genoveva Casanova walking through the center of Madrid last November had not existed).

For his big day, Frederick X has brought together his wife Mary Donaldson, his four children and his mother, the Queen Margaret. The entire family have kindly greeted the Danish people from Amalienborg Palace, the same place where Frederick and Mary starred in a movie kiss last January after being proclaimed kings of Denmark.

Although in this new appearance of Frederick and Mary on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace we have not seen a kiss, the head of state has had several affectionate gestures with his wife. On several occasions, Federico has held Mary’s hand as a sign of affection.

Those who have shown the greatest complicity have been Queen Margaret and Mary Donaldson. As several snapshots illustrate, Mary has shared confidences and laughter with her mother-in-law.

Likewise, the wife of Frederick X and Queen Margaret have agreed on the color of her dress for Frederick of Denmark’s big day. Mary from Denmark has chosen a midi-cut fuchsia dress with pleated details on the flare. For her part, Queen Margaret has selected (also in fuchsia) a midi-cut dress, with a boat neck, three-quarter sleeves, light embroidery and an elegant brooch in the chest area.
