The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) presented this Thursday the Technical Report of the Sport Sustainability Summit organized last October by the Olympic entity in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, with Banco Santander Spain, global sustainability partner of the COE , and with the support of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), focusing on its efforts “to place sustainability at the center” of its operations.
The Goyeneche Auditorium at the entity's headquarters hosted this presentation, carried out by the director of Sustainability, Marketing and HR of the COE, Manuel Parga. The document, according to the organization, offers “a holistic vision of sustainability in the sports industry” in the “short, medium and long term.”
The publication compiles the results of the 'Sports and Sustainability Questionnaire' completed by the professionals who attended the congress; the conclusions drawn from the presentations and round tables; as well as case studies, academic publications and sector reports.
The president of the COE, Alejandro Blanco, opened the event by ensuring that they strive to “place sustainability at the center” of their operations. “Events like the Sport Sustainability Summit are critical to our growth, allowing us to host exceptional speakers whose experience, passion and dedication leave a lasting mark,” he added.
“We have been recognized by the IOC as the first National Olympic Committee in the world for sustainability and now we find ourselves in a position where emotions get the better of us, while commitment keeps us doing the right thing and thinking about it 24 hours a day. of the day,” he concluded.
During the event it was also announced that the carbon footprint generated by the Sport Sustainability Summit has been offset in a reforestation project of an old mining area located in the Leonese town of Bembibre.
In addition, a round table was held, moderated by Carlos Cantó, CEO of SPSG Consulting and head of the AEMKT Sports Marketing Committee, and in which the director of Media, Online Marketing, Sponsorships and Events of Banco Santander, Felipe, participated. Martin; the CEO of the Sail GP Spain Team, Tony Alquezar; and Manuel Parga. All of them addressed the importance of sustainability in the sports field.
