The COE pays tribute this Thursday to the Olympians in Seoul and Calgary in 1988

MADRID, 9 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) will pay tribute this Thursday (1:00 p.m.) to the Spanish Olympic Team that participated in the Winter Olympics in Calgary and in the Summer Olympics in Seoul, both played in 1988.

Thirty-four years after the celebration of these Games, the COE wants to “value the work and effort” carried out by all the participants who “laid the foundations of what Spanish sport is today”.

The national delegation that traveled to the Canadian town returned with a diploma won by Blanca Fernández-Ochoa in alpine skiing, while the Spanish representatives in the South Korean capital won four medals.

These four ‘metals’ were the gold of the sailor José Luis Doreste in sailing; silver with the doubles pair made up of tennis players Emilio Sánchez Vicario and Sergio Casal; and the bronzes of the swimmer Sergi López and the shooter Jorge Guardiola. In addition, they also added 14 diplomas.
