“The Clásico was a pothole, we have full confidence”

Thibaut Courtoisgoalkeeper of Real Madridpublished the third installment of his podcast ‘Thibaut Talks‘, a space in which he analyzes sports news and offers his opinion on different issues. The Belgian goalkeeper, one of the leaders and spokesmen for the white dressing room, spoke about the contrast between what happened in the comeback against PSG and the debacle against Barcelona in the last Classic garter belt.

Comeback against PSG

“Against him PSG the Bernabeu it was a boiler. After our first goal it was crazy, the stadium really pushed us to victory. That emotion always remains inside, you will remember those games. Those were very special moments.”

The defeat in the Classic

“The other side of the coin was against the Barça. Our match was not good. In the end there were people who had stayed and the only thing the players can do is thank the fans for having supported until the end even though the result was what it was and apologize for the game. In the end it is a game and there are three points, like the three that we will play against Celtic“.

next challenges

“In Vigo we have to win, we are still leaders, with a nine-point advantage. There are 9 games left and each game is a final and we have to get to the end of May to win the League“.

Bache against the Barça

“We have full confidence, that game was a bump, it can happen. A season is never perfect and there is always a game that we can lose. Sometimes it is better to lose once than to lose three or draw three games in a row. There is confidence and it is time to recover to be ready for this month of April with very important matches in the League and the Champions League”.

Final sprint in League and Champions

“In the League we want to take a step forward to be at the top when May arrives and in the Champions League we hope to win and be able to play in the semis and then hopefully more”.

Regreso a Stamford Bridge

“It will be special. Last year we lost in the semis and hopefully this year there will be a victory. This year it will be different because it will be with the public. It will be special and although there may be some whistle, I hope that people remember the beautiful moments. We won two Leagues, one FA Cup… For me, Chelsea is a special team, it helped me to be the goalkeeper that I am now, it bought me when I was 18 years old and it gave me the opportunity to be at Atlético, to play in the Premier and win it. It’s an important team and I have many friends there, it’s always a pleasure to face them again”.
