The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, made it clear that even if he is visiting Madrid he cannot “arrive and stay” with Carlo Ancelotti, the current coach of Real Madrid, “one of the best in the world” and who does not give up to direct the five-time world champion before the end of his contract with the 14-time European champion.
“I have an agenda here in Madrid and I can’t come and meet him. We have an agenda of what we want to talk about so that he can make the situation clearer. I understand that even after the national team matches and everything that happens in Lisbon (friendly against Cameroon) we will not have a clearer position in relation to the coach,” warned Rodrigues after going to the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid) to present the friendly against Spain in March 2024.
During this act, the leader had already been asked about the figure of the Italian, whom he described as a “great manager of groups” and stressing that “all those who have trained with him say that he is the best they have had in their career” since those who arrive “new” manage to make them “grow”. “He is one of the best coaches in the world and Brazil is one of the best teams in the world,” he said.
“There are many people who say that we should wait, but that is not a decision only of the president, it must also be decided by the directors and the players, who also make decisions and we have to be in tune with their feelings. It is an answer that can only be give in the future”, remarked the president of the CBF.
In this sense, he considers it “important to start work with what footballers like” and made it clear that “there is no detriment to Brazilian coaches” for Ancelotti’s choice. “We have competent coaches in many clubs. We have a goal and we have to look for it,” he said, stressing that “something” and that he is “persistent” make him continue “hoping” about hiring the current Real Madrid coach.
