The Sant Cugat del Valls High Performance Center confirmed this Saturday a case of COVID-19 in one of its workers, causing the complete closure of its facilities, in line with the precautions adopted last Wednesday by the CAR in Madrid.
This has been indicated by TV3 with sources from the Government of Catalonia, citing the Secretary General for Sport and Physical Activity. In the first instance, the CAR of Sant Cugat was still operating for several people with a view to the Tokyo Olympics.
“Everything was ready so that a small number of athletes could continue training. Thank you for having dedicated so much effort. Once again you had shown why you are the best center. Proud to be part of it,” he tweeted. Jordi Morales, adapted table tennis player.
The Madrid CAR was already closed
The Higher Sports Council (CSD) had already decided to interrupt all sports activities at the CAR facilities in Madrid, in line with the measures adopted by the Madrid community regarding sports and events last Wednesday.
This fact complements the closure of the judo pavilion decreed on Friday 6 after the visit of a person from the Judo Federation who has tested positive for Covid-19, the CSD said three days ago in a statement.
On March 6, the CSD advanced that it had requested the athletes not to go to train in the Judo flag as a transitory precautionary measure, after confirming a case of COVID-19 in one of the federation workers and carrying out testing a second person who had been on the premises in previous days.
