The Camp Nou loses part of the third tier of the South Goal

The club continues with the remodeling works of the stadium inside the ‘Espai Barça’

FC Barcelona takes advantage of the football break for the World Cup to advance in the works of the ‘Espai Barça’ and, specifically, of the Camp Nou, which says goodbye to part of the third tier of the South Goal to advance the actions in the works of the next summer.

“The Club continues to work on the Spotify Camp Nou works and accelerates the remodeling works, taking advantage of the window of opportunity offered by the break in the League championship for the World Cup, between the months of November and December,” announced the club.

The area of ​​Gol Sur is the main area affected by these works, in a third tier where partial demolition has already begun, in a first phase of actions that will end on December 30, just before the derby at the Camp Nou against RCD Espanyol .

The club informs that on September 1, the preliminary work to prepare the area began, with the dismantling of equipment and facilities and the temporary transfer of the systems and technology infrastructure (CPD), as well as the removal of the video scoreboard from the Gol Sur and the seats in the affected area in order to adapt the area and then proceed with the demolition.

In this new phase of the work, the work will consist of the removal of the slabs from the affected area, the demolition of the outer ring, the cantilever that protrudes from the South Goal façade (where the Health Assistance Center was located) and, finally, , half of the third tier of the same goal, part of which is counterweight.

The demolition will be done by the traditional system, through mechanical means, removing all the structural elements that exist on the fans of the second tier. These works will have a maximum cost of 4.6 million euros, which will be assumed within the framework of the bridging loan signed last summer.

A second phase of the work is also planned for the coming months, in which the rest of the structure will be dismantled. Thus, the only thing that will remain will be the part of the exterior pillar up to the second tier as a protection measure and it will be then when the construction of the new evacuation stairs and walkways will be carried out.

“Each and every one of these actions will save time in a complex and large-scale project and will be very useful to start verifying the processes and speed of the new construction, with a view to the works planned for the 2023/24 season, where the sports practice will move to the Lluís Companys Stadium in Montjuïc”, recalled FC Barcelona.

TOWNS AFFECTED IN THE SOUTH GOL

The works are affecting 3,782 localities of the South Goal, mainly third tier, which will disappear, of which 3,182 correspond to season ticket holders, who have been relocated to similar areas or have been offered a temporary moratorium on the subscription payment.

As for the second tier, 1,215 subscribers, located between entrances 315 and 322, have gone from having a covered seat to an uncovered seat and the Club has made the corresponding price adjustment. Six VIP markets in the second tier and the area where the opposing fans are usually located are also affected.

The works have been concentrated between gates 34 and 46, and between entrances 521 and 422, and once the partial demolition of the third tier has been completed, pillars will be built, foundation work will be carried out, and new stairs and pathways will be built. evacuation for doors 315 to 322, and for entrances 01 to 021, 116 to 121 and 211 to 221.
