The Bernabéu works are going from strength to strength and at full speed. Just in almost a year, Real Madrid hopes to celebrate the reopening of the La Castellana Coliseum, with an impressive appearance that will include the total roof of the enclosure (the Bernabéu can be roofed as if it were a basketball court on days of rain and extreme cold) and the installation of a retractable lawn that will allow it to be stored underground with a revolutionary system of conservation, lighting and temperature that will keep it in optimal conditions for its care despite not having natural light.
Deadlines
In the white club they have set the date of December 14, 2022 as a great reference for the acts of that second inauguration of the Bernabéu, since Chamartín already debuted as such on the same day in 1947, with the famous friendly against Os Belenenses (3-1 for the whites).
For that 12-14-2022 it is estimated that the interior work of the retractable lawn will be finished, which in turn will allow to fully use the 82,000 seats that the Madrid sanctuary will have (until now there were 81,000). Possibly, within a year the improvement of the environment next to the stadium is still to be completed, both on the sidewalk that overlooks the main facade of La Castellana and the public park that will have to be opened in the space previously occupied by the ‘La Esquina del Bernabéu’ shopping center.
The trusses to place on them the structure that will allow the stadium to be closed are already installed, therefore, that dome will be finished when the current season ends in June.
Ancelotti’s team will play on Sunday at the Bernabéu against its people (9:00 p.m.), but the Christmas break will allow that until January 9, 21 days later, it will not be played again on the premises (against Valencia). This will allow those responsible for the works to accelerate the work to continue advancing in those days without football.
