The BBVA Open in Valencia makes the leap to the WTA Tour

The BBVA Open Internacional Valencia Tournament, which will be held from June 4 to 12 at the Sporting Tennis Club, has become the first WTA tournament in the Valencian Community and one of the few that are held in Spanish territory after a negotiation of several months of Annabelle Medina and Tennium.

The creator and director of the tournament, together with one of the largest sports companies in Europe, organizer of events such as the Conde de Godó Trophy in Barcelona, ​​the ATP Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, the European Open in Belgium and the Senior Masters Cup, They will thus bring the best women’s tennis to Valencia to make a leap in quality to the event.

The BBVA Open Valencia will have great prizes for its participants and its evolution will not rule out any of the complementary activities to the tournament that have given it its own identity: the under-16 tournament will continue to be played to offer visibility and opportunities to emerging players, as well as solidarity initiatives towards athletes with disabilities.

From the organization of the tournament it is ensured that these peculiarities will be joined by a special concern for the environment and, after becoming the first tournament in the world in fully balancing its carbon footprint, it will be integrated into the Valencia initiative to become one of the hundred cities chosen by the European Union to achieve climate neutrality in 2030.
