The Senate has been divided this Tuesday because of the ties: as if it were a slogan, the socialists have taken it away and the popular ones are wearing it.
Let us remember that avoiding the use of a tie was one of the proposals that aroused the most jokes and comments when Pedro Sánchez proposed dispensing with the garment to get less heat and put an end to energy wastage due to excess air conditioning.
The bipartisanship revived this Tuesday afternoon in the Senate by Sánchez and was made visible minutes before the first face-to-face of the new political course between the Prime Minister and the opposition leader began.
As we saw the parliamentarians arrive at their seats, we could verify that the men of the socialist caucus, starting with Pedro Sánchez, went without their ties, as obedient disciples and followers of the proposal or, in this case, recommendation of the chief executive.
But popular senators have included this accessory in clothing, starting with Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The anecdote shows the enormous distance between the government and the opposition, a distance that will make it difficult to reach agreements against the economic crisis or the renewal of courts.
On July 29, Sánchez surprised many by proposing to take off his tie in order to save energy, considering that it could help reduce the use of air conditioning. “I don’t wear a tie. We can all save from an energy point of view and I have asked the ministers and public officials that when it is not necessary, they do not use it,” explained the general secretary of the PSOE.
