The 49ers’ Nick Bosa said this about Chiefs OL Jawaan Taylor and Donovan Smith: “They hold a lot.”
In a news conference on Thursday, Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers was asked what stood out to him about Jawaan Taylor as well as Donovan Smith of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The comments should be heard in Kansas City while the Chiefs and 49ers get ready for the Super Bowl next Sunday. On the one hand, Smith is known for talking trash, so he probably won’t let Bosa’s words go without responding.
This season, Taylor has been one of the most-watched linemen in football. His tendency to draw penalty flags has made headlines more than once.
During the normal season, Taylor was called for and accepted 19 penalties, more than any other player in the NFL. He was also given three penalties that his opponents chose not to take.
Seven of those penalties had been for holding, which was tied for the most in football among offensive linemen.
He also had nine false starts, which was the most in the league. Smith, meanwhile, got five hold penalties, two more than his teammate who led the league in penalties.
Bosa, on the other hand, is one of the most feared rush rushers in the NFL. He has been to four Pro Bowls and is currently the Defensive Player of the Year.
Along with trying to scare Patrick Mahomes, he will try to get some penalties when he is lined up on either side of the line.
The front line of the Chiefs of Kansas City is getting ready to play the San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa in Super Bowl LVIII.
Thursday, before the Super Bowl, Bosa was asked about tackles Donovan Smith or Jawaan Taylor and the rest of the Chiefs’ offensive line, which gets flagged a lot.
Bosa had 10.5 more sacks this past season than he did in 2022 when he led the league with 18.5. He had two sacks across the Niners’ two playoff games. He has been to four Pro Bowls.
The 49ers’ defense, led by Bosa, will try to stop Patrick Mahomes during this year’s title game, and this starts on February 11 in Las Vegas. This is also supported by the numbers.
Here is the first Super Bowl LVIII bulletin board item. Pass rusher Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers did it. On Thursday, he hit two members of the Kansas City Royals’ offensive line.
When asked what he thought of Chiefs lines Donovan Smith as well as Jawaan Taylor, Bosa chose to answer in a way that wasn’t very polite. Bosa told 95.7 The Game, “They hold a lot.”
Chiefs fans probably don’t like what Bosa said because they’re used to people from outside the team making fun of them.
That’s what happens when you’ve had the same success as the Kansas City Chiefs have since 2018 when Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback.
When Bosa says something, it will be interesting for how Smith and Taylor react. Don’t worry—both players have been asked to talk about it when the team meets with the media in Las Vegas.
Both of them have done enough to help the Chiefs get back to the Super Bowl, even if Bosa doesn’t agree.
Smith and Taylor were both first-year Chiefs players. They were on the offensive line that only let Mahomes get sacked 28 times during the season. He wasn’t fired at all while the Chiefs beat Miami and Buffalo in the playoffs.
The 49ers and Chiefs have always been rivals, but it’s clear that they’re not the nicest of opponents.
The Chiefs came back from being down 10 points to beat the 49ers within Super Bowl LIV four years ago, so that must have something to do with it.
When the 49ers lost that Super Bowl, Bosa was a rookie. He hopes to be on the other side of all the confetti next Sunday night. He’ll likely have to do well against the Chiefs’ offensive line, which he doesn’t like very much.
