Colmenar Viejo tennis fans are in luck. The Municipal Tennis Courts ‘Fernando Colmenarejo Berrocal’ will once again enjoy professional tennis from August 9 to 15 with the XIX Colmenar Viejo Tennis Trophy – XI Open IBP Uniuso.
It is one of the benchmark tournaments within the Spanish tennis circuit, one of the oldest sports competitions in the town and one of the most prestigious on the national summer calendar.
In addition, the expectation for this test will be very high after the two editions that could not be held. Last year the tournament was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in 2019 the tournament tracks were under construction.
The presentation ceremony was attended by personalities from the city that will host the tournament as well as from the world of tennis. The Councilor for Sports of Colmenar Viejo, Jorge Domínguez Jiménez, has stated that “we are facing one of the key tournaments in the planning and training of international professionals who come to Spain to prepare their preseason; as well as regular national and local players from the IBP Tennis Series circuit, to score points and qualify for the final Master of the series ”.
For its part, the mayor of the town, Jorge García Díaz, mentioned in the same act that the competition “returns to be played in an unbeatable setting, with renovated surfaces that make this space one of the best sports facilities in the region for the practice of tennis at the highest professional level”.

Organized by the Colmenar Viejo Tennis Sports Group, which is 30 years old, and in collaboration with the Department of Sports, this year 7,500 euros will be allocated in prizess for the male and female categories, both singles and doubles.
