MADRID, 7 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, assures that the club has quickly overcome the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is already “past”, so he looks “to the future” following his “plan”.
“He’s gone and it’s the past. Now we look forward and to the future,” said the coach in an interview published by the club’s official media on Wednesday.
United terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract by mutual agreement after the Portuguese star’s interview on TalkSports in which he harshly criticized the treatment received by the coach himself. He assured that they had “disrespected” him and charged against the structure of the English entity.
Now without the 37-year-old striker in his squad, Ten Hag wants to continue rebuilding the team through his “plan”. “We’ve prepared the players based on that plan, so there can’t be any confusion about what the goal is,” he said.
“We have made the players aware that, after the World Cup, you have to return to the club and the league starts immediately. You have to be prepared for that, but I think our players are used to it, they are winners,” he added about his squad, which they will face Burnley in the League Cup on December 21, before hosting Nottingham Forest in the Premier League six days later.
