Tavares, Vezenkov, Lessort, Musa and Lorenzo Brown make up the best five in the Euroleague

MADRID, 15 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid players Walter Tavares and Dzanan Musa are part of the best five in the 2022-2023 Euroleague, a team that is completed by Sasha Vezenkov (Olympiacos), Mathias Lessort (Partizá) and Lorenzo Brown (Maccabi Tel Aviv), as announced by the competition on Monday.

Members of the media, coaches and captains of the Euroleague teams and the fans have chosen the players that make up the best five of the season in the continental competition, which however does not have any Barça player, despite to be a team of the ‘Final Four’.

Tavares is present in this prestigious quintet for the third time in his career, after also being chosen ‘Best Defender’, with a record of 84 blocks (2.2 per game). The Real Madrid center was key in the playoff quarterfinals against Partizán, recording 26 points and 11 rebounds in the third game, with a PIR of 41, to guide his team in a historic comeback to travel to Kaunas.

Also a Real Madrid player, Musa has been one of the revelations of the competition. He led the Whites in scoring with 15.2 points per game, being the only member of the Madrid squad to participate in all Euroleague games. In addition, he averaged 2.7 assists per game and has been MVP of the day three times.

The center from Partizán Lessort was impressive in the paint with 7.1 rebounds per game and eight ‘double-doubles’. His 67.6 percent 2-point shooting percentage was the highest of any player with as many 2-pointers (4.3 per game) made.

Another of the veteran faces of this quintet is Sasha Vezenkov, top scorer in the Euroleague with Olympiacos in the regular season. He averaged 17.2 points per game and was second in rebounding (6.8 per game). It is the second time in a row that Vezenkov has been selected for the best five of the competition.

Finally, Lorenzo Brown completes the best starting team in the Euroleague, among the top five in scoring (16.4) and assists (5.5). In addition, he had a rating of at least 30 in four games, as the ‘guide’ of a Maccabi that has grown under the leadership of the point guard who was champion with Spain in the Eurobasket.
