Brazilian striker Taison Barcellos Freda will return to play for Internacional de Porto Alegre, after eleven seasons in Ukrainian football, in which he played for Metalist and Shakhtar Donetsk.
“Taison is coming home”, announced this Friday Inter, with whom he has signed a contract for the next two years.
Formed at the Progresso club, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Taison debuted in 2008 with Internacional and quickly became a fundamental player for the Colorado team, with which he was proclaimed champion of the Copa Libertadores (2010) and of la Sudamericana (2008), among other achievements.
Then he began his successful adventure in Ukraine, first at Metalist and then at Shakhtar Donetsk, where he continued to add titles to his extensive record.
The latter club has become in recent years the ideal destination for several Brazilian players and Taison, in some way, was one of the forerunners of this trend, having spent nine seasons in the Ukrainian squad at a high level.
In total there were 400 games in European football, with nine appearances in the Champions League.
Taison, 33, also wore the shirt of the Brazilian senior team between 2016 and 2018, the year in which he was called up for the World Cup in Russia, in which Canarinha lost in the quarterfinals against Belgium.
Now he returns to Internacional to fill the gap left in the offensive line by Uruguayan striker Abel Hernández, who has headed for Fluminense de Rio de Janeiro.
The Colorado team, which this year is managed by Spanish coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez, will try to win the Brazilian League that eluded them last season, when the title slipped through their hands on the final matchday against Flamengo.
He will also play the 2021 Copa Libertadores, which will start in Group B together with the Bolivian Always Ready, the Venezuelan Deportivo Táchira and the Paraguayan Olimpia.
