The Mutua Madrid Open leaves us with numerous significant changes this week in the Top-10 of a WTA ranking in which, however, there is no change in the throne since Iga Swiatek continues to lead the rankings with an iron fist.
Swiatek, who did not compete in Madrid, remains at the top for another week with 7,061 points, ahead of Czech Barbora Krejcikova by 2,050, who also did not play in Madrid and that this week is second with 5,011 points.
Krejcikova goes up after the Early elimination of Paula Badosa in Madrid. The Spanish gives up second place this week and appears in third position with 4,720 points, leading Maria Sakkari by 124, fourth with 4,596; and in 274 the Estonian Anett Kontaveit, fifth with 4,446. She has more advantage with the Czech Karolina Pliskova, who this week rises to sixth position with 4,152.
In seventh position appears the great winner of the week, the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who with her victory at the Mutua Madrid Open climbed three positions with 3,895 points. Jabeur thus overtakes the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenkathe worst affected in the ranking this week as it drops four positions to number 8 with 3,721 points. Completing the Top-10 are the American Danielle Collins, ninth with 3,211 points; and the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza, tenth with 3,135 points although she is only 95 points ahead of Jessica Pegulawhich rises to eleventh position with 3,040 points after reaching the final in Madrid.
In addition to Badosa and Muguruza, two other Spanish tennis players resist one more week in the Top-100 of the ranking. Sara Sorribes, who reached the quarterfinals at the Mutua Madrid Open, climbs 10 positions to 37th place with 1,345 points. For her part, Nuria Párrizas moved up one position and stayed at the gates of the Top-50 in position 51 with 1,110 points.
