Swedish team takes command at UniCredit Youth America’s Cup

MADRID, 21 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The UniCredit Youth America’s Cup saw a thrilling day of big waves on Saturday, with bow dips, skidding, takeoffs and heeling with a lot of position exchange, where the ‘Swedish Challenge powered by Artemis Technologies’ reigned supreme, with Oscar Engström and Ludvig Lindqvist at the helm.

With four wins from five, it was a dominant performance from a team that has put in many hours training from its base in Belfast, Northern Ireland, before coming to Spain and setting up shop at the Badalona facility with the US and UK youth and women’s teams.

The Swedes put in a lot of effort in every race and the star talents of Andoo Team Australia’s Cole Tapper and Jack Ferguson showed their tactical prowess and speed to take victory in the opening race and keep pushing throughout the day.

Local favourite SailTeam BCN, leader yesterday after a victory, had a consistent day, always challenging for the podium. A series of good results, in particular a second and a third place in races 3 and 4 on Saturday, put them in third position with two races to complete on Sunday.

JAJO DutchSail, fourth, Concord Pacific Racing (Canada) and AC Team Germany will be looking for better results behind the Spaniards to try to secure a place on the podium and qualification for the semi-finals.
