Suture point for Milan, leader by the minimum

Milan, who dreams of achieving their first Serie A since 2010-11, could not beat Bologna on Monday, but remains the leader, now with just one point more than Naples (0-0). At San Siro there were banners in support of Sinisa Mihajlovic, coach of Bologna and former coach of Milan, who could not lead his team because he has relapsed from leukemia that he already suffered and overcame in 2019. Bologna dedicated the tie to his coach, who snapped a three-game winning streak for Milan. For the red and black it was rather a point of suture.

It was a game that, despite dominating, made it very difficult for Milan because Bologna did a good defensive job, with a magnificent performance from their goalkeeper, Łukasz Skorupski, who made very good saves.

In the 17th minute, the first clear chance for Milan, the work of Leao, but the ball went high. In the 27th minute Maignan, the Milan goalkeeper, managed to deflect a shot from Barrow. In minute 33, the one who forced Skorupski to intervene was Theo Hernández. Just before the break, Olivier Giroud had the chance, but his header was saved by the Bologna goalkeeper.

Ante Rebic entered after the break for Messias and encouraged Milan’s attack quite a bit, but without effectiveness. Zlatan Ibrahimovic came on in the 70th minute to relieve Giroud and suffered a heavy header from Gary Medel. The Swedish star had a bandage applied to his head, but he was able to continue on the field. Medel, starter, was replaced.

Milan tried and tried, but Bologna knew how to defend themselves successfully. Skorupski was once again a hero by stopping a great header from Theo Hernández late in the match. Milan missed two points that could be very important. Now he has one point more than Napoli (who beat Atalanta 1-3 on Sunday) and 4 more than Inter, who beat Juventus that same day (0-1).
