Steven Gerrard steps down as Aston Villa manager

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Aston Villa announced this Thursday morning the departure of its coach Steven Gerrard, after the defeat shortly before against Fulham (3-0), on the twelfth day of the Premier.

“Aston Villa announces that first-team manager Steven Gerrard is leaving the club with immediate effect,” reads the English box’s brief statement on its official website.

A club spokesman thanked Gerrard at the end of his time as coach of the ‘villains’. “We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment, and wish him well in the future,” he notes.

The legendary former Liverpool player took charge of Villa in November 2021, after passing through the Rangers bench and replacing Dean Smith. After 12 games this season, Gerrard leaves Vila with just two wins and stuck in the relegation zone.
