MADRID, 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Spar Girona beat Valencia Basket (70-65) this Sunday in the final of the 2022 Endesa Super Cup held in Mendizorroza (Vitoria), the third for the Catalan team’s record.
The ‘taronja’ team, which came from a greater effort in the semifinals by eliminating Perfumerías Avenida, could not retain last year’s title in an intense and tough match, in which the final minutes decided the title in favor of Girona.
The Catalan team began ruling in the final with a 10-1 start. Valencia was waking up in defense and attack, with a great Raquel Carrera, but Tolo continued to fatten Girona’s income. The start of the second half was ‘taronja’, turning the score around with a step forward on both sides of the pitch.
Labuckiene was the response of a Girona that arrived with more physicality and success in the decisive stretch to open a new stage with a title. The first came in 2015 with Miguel Ángel Ortega, the second in 2019 with Eric Suris and the third Super Cup, with Bernat Canut opening the bench with a title. Shay Murphy, MVP Rebeka Gardner and Laia Flores’ judgment were the keys against a great Valencia.
