Spanish Pau Gasol enters the FIBA ​​Hall of Fame

The former Spanish basketball player and “legend” Pau Gasol will officially enter the FIBA ​​Hall of Fame on May 17 along with eight other players and a coach, the “venerable” ‘coach K’ from the United States Mike Krzyzewski.

Pau Gasol and the rest of the honorees will become part of the ‘FIBA Hall of Fame’ in a consecration ceremony that will take place on May 17 of this year. at the same time as the FIBA ​​Congress in Bahrain.

The FIBA ​​assures in a statement that Pau Gasol was a “colossus” for Spain, inspiring “unprecedented successes” with his performances and leadership. “He achieved superstar status at the 2006 World Cup in Japan, when he became the MVP and won the first major trophy in Spain’s history.

But Pau Gasol is more than that World Cup, because he managed to be an Olympian five times, Spain’s flag bearer in London 2012 and led his country to win three medals in the Games. These achievements were also accompanied by three titles in the FIBA ​​EuroBasket, as well as two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and several titles with Barça, the club in which he formed and retired.
