Spanish driver Alex Palou, three-time IndyCar champion

MADRID, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spaniard Álex Palou (Cadillac Racing) has been crowned IndyCar Series champion this weekend, finishing eleventh in the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, the last of the season, thus securing his third title in the category, after lifting the winner’s trophy also in 2021 and 2023.

The Barcelona-born driver completed his third title in the category in the last race of the championship held at the Nashville oval. There, at the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, he finished in eleventh position, a result that, together with the 24th place of Australian Will Power (Team Penske), his rival in the fight for the title, was enough for him to retain the title he won last season.

Palau finished the season with 544 points, 31 more than American Colton Herta (Andretti Autosport), winner in Nashville and second in the championship standings. In addition, throughout 2024 he has achieved two victories, three pole positions and six podiums. “I haven’t had time to relax. We’ve all worked hard on the car. I’m proud of the team,” said the Spaniard after the race.
