MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish canoeing team had a good medal shower this Sunday on the last day of the 2022 Munich European Championships, where Spain achieved the best result in its history.

The first metal was the gold of Juan Antonio Valle, who took victory in the KL3 200m after an exciting regatta, repeating the milestone achieved two weeks ago at the World Cup in Canada. The Paracanoe team added two metals in the European Championship, after the silver obtained by Higinio Rivero last Friday in the VL2 200m.

Meanwhile, Isabel Contreras achieved bronze in the K1 1000m, in a race in which the Ceuta woman remained in the top positions from the start of the event. Next, the duo formed by Francisco Cubelos and Íñigo Peña won silver in the K2 1000m.

Antía Jácome and María Corbera won the silver medal in the C2 200m, while Sete Benavides and Antoni Segura also took second place on the podium at the Munich Olympic channel.

Spain dressed in gold on top of their canoes with the triumphs of the men’s C2 500m and women’s C1 200m. Joan Antoni Moreno and Adrián Sieiro demonstrated their world hegemony, and Antía Jácome, in her second medal in Munich, once again climbed to the top of a podium after a year full of personal improvement.

Sunday closed with the long distance, where Walter Bouzán and Eva Barrios got a silver and a bronze, respectively, in the K1 5000. Meanwhile, María Corbera closed the Spanish medal table with a victory without discussion.

With 15 medals, Spain achieves the best record of medals in its history in a European Championship, surpassing the 11 medals achieved in 2004. A new success at a continental level two weeks after leading the medal table at the World Cup in Halifax (Canada) with eight medals.
