Spanish artistic swimming celebrates its bronze: “It tastes like gold, we fought hard for it”

MADRID, 11 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish artistic swimming team returned home this Sunday with their bronze medal from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a medal that tasted “like gold”, “after fighting hard” and after “many years of work”, also explaining the group’s decision to stay in the French capital to accompany the duo.

“It tastes like gold because we fought hard for it. It was very complicated and until the last moment we were fighting like warriors and we deserved this moment and to have a medal,” Meritxell Mas told the media upon her arrival in Barcelona.

On the other hand, Mas explained that it was their decision to stay in Paris, even though they could not be in the Villa, to accompany the duo of Iris Tió and Alisa Ozhogina, ruling out any controversy. “It was our decision, we wanted to be able to be with the duo, to stay to support them, because we are a team. Now we are going to enjoy the medal,” she added.

Tió herself confessed to the “excitement and pride” of that bronze. “We were very excited to see the reflection of the work in Paris,” she said. Likewise, Paula Ramírez gave a lot of credit to that Olympic podium. “You can see the work of many years. People are impatient but this is not achieved in a day. It is the pride of all these years of work and achieving it,” she confessed.

On the other hand, Blanca Toledano insisted that the bronze has a “golden taste”. “We are proud of our work. We were going for the gold because with these new regulations anything can happen, but this bronze has a golden taste, because it has cost a lot and we deserve it a lot,” she concluded.
