Spain wins silver at the U-18 Women’s Eurobasket

MADRID, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s U-18 basketball team had to settle for the silver medal on Sunday after losing 70-80 to France in the Eurobasket final in their category.

The match in Matosinhos, Portugal, was decided in a final where Spain lost its first and only match of the tournament. Bernat Canut’s team was ahead at the start but the defensive advance of the French dried up Spain.

From 12-20 in the second quarter, the game did not improve for the Spanish team in the third, with an 18-30 that made the final very complicated with many losses and a significant drop in rebounding. Despite the attempt to come back, with Awa Fam (18 points and 7 rebounds), in the best quintet of the tournament, and Iyana Martín (24 points and 4 assists), France avoided the sixth Spanish European in the category.
