Spain will play a double confrontation against Japan before their duel against Italy for the WXV2

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish XV women’s rugby team will face a double confrontation against Japan on the weekends of July 8 and 15, which will serve as preparation for the momentous match against Italy on July 22, where the ‘Leonas’ will play a place in the WXV2, the second world level of the new tournament organized by World Rugby, the WXV.

Before looking for a victory against the transalpines, which would ensure them to play the WXV2, Juan González’s team will live two games against the Japanese team, which already has its place in the WXV2, in a venue yet to be determined.

After the two friendly clashes, the ‘Leonas’ will meet again at the Walter Beltrametti stadium in Piacenza with Italy, who beat them in the first game of the year (5-22), where they formed with a very young group -an average age of 22 years old- who still had to adjust.

With their match against Italy, Spain will have played eight games this year, a figure similar to that of other full seasons in which they have played World Cups or participated in the women’s 6 Nations. Thus, they will have met South Africa, the United States, Italy or Japan, eleventh in the World Rugby ranking, just above Spain.
