Spain takes silver at the Eurobasket U-16 men’s tournament

MADRID, 18 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish U-16 men’s basketball team lost (70-82) this Saturday to the French team in the final of the European Championship in this category, held in Heraklion (Greece).

Spain trailed behind the French, who were more consistent in their play and always found an advantage on the scoreboard (13-24). Carles Flores’ men pushed to equalise the match and lower the level of success of a France that lived off that initial cushion.

Under the leadership of Marcos Zurita (21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists) and Javier Viguer (17 points), Spain closed the gap, with the third quarter being equal. In the end, the team suffered from the pressure on the court and the physicality of the French team, and saw the comeback for gold fade away.
