Spain sweeps France and reaches the women’s semifinal of the World Hockey Championship

MADRID, 19 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s roller hockey team beat France (8-2) on Thursday and reached the semi-finals of the World Cup being held in the Italian city of Novara.

Spain, the tournament’s most successful team and in search of the gold they lost two years ago to Argentina, gave France no chance at the Pala Igor. Anna Casarramona and Victòria Porta, with three goals each, led the European champions to the penultimate round of the 2024 World Cup.

The French sealed their surrender in the first half, going into the break 5-1 down. The Spanish team was able to control the game at will and France scored their second goal again in the final moments of the period.

Thus, Sergi Macià’s team will seek a new final this Friday while waiting for the rival that will emerge from Argentina-Chile, with a possible rematch on the horizon against the Albicelestes, who, in addition, with six titles follow Spain in the list of winners (7).
