The Spanish U-18 women’s basketball team had to settle for silver this Sunday at Eurobasket 2022 held in Greece, losing (75-78) in the final against Lithuania.
Spain added the sixth medal of another summer in which it shows future and quarry. Bernat Canut’s players fought for the gold until the last play. After an exchange of sets, the Spanish team took the initiative with quality.
The scoreboard however did not break, despite the good work of Elena Buenavida in scoring and Carla Brito in rebounding and in fact Lithuania went ahead at half time. The third quarter remained even, but in the last, Spain was 10 down.
Canut’s team did not throw in the towel thanks to Elena Buenavida’s outburst, with eight straight points to tighten the score (66-68). However, Lithuania did not shake their wrist either and responded to each attack to win gold on the verge of extra time.
